What we collect when you browse

When you browse our site, Vercel may record basic analytics such as pages viewed, device type, and approximate location.

On our camp planner, Vercel also records which grade and session length you pick, without your name or email.

Google Analytics may also record pages viewed, device type, and approximate location.

We may use the Meta (Facebook) pixel to measure ad performance. It records page views and a Lead event when a form is submitted. It does not receive form contents like name or email. You can manage ad preferences in your Meta settings or block third-party cookies.

Camp Finder

If you fill in the Camp Finder form at /find, we collect what you enter:

• Your child's age the summer they go, and gender.
• Session length, weeks that work, and max budget.
• Camp format, regions, home state, and how far you'll travel.
• Jewish observance or diet, housing preference, and competitive or chill.
• Whether your child has special needs, and any details you add.
• Whether this is a first summer at overnight camp, and how you heard about us.
• Your notes and your email address.
• Your answers to the consent boxes.

We also record how you reached the form: the tracking tags on the link you clicked (utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_content, and utm_term), the page that sent you, and the first page you landed on. This tells us which channels work.

We do not ask for your phone number.

We use your answers to build your shortlist and to email you about your request.

Where it is stored and who sees it

Your request is stored with the services we use to run Camp Finder: Upstash, our database, and Resend, which sends our email. A copy also goes to our camps@campgearinsiders.com inbox. Apart from those services, only the Camp Gear Insiders team sees your full request. Camps see only the blind profile described below.

Intros and the $100

A camp sees a blind profile first. It has no name, email, or phone number. A camp pays $100 only if it wants your contact details. We share your contact details with a camp only after you say yes, and you can say no to any intro.

Special needs details stay out of the blind profile.

Anonymous totals

The form has an optional box: "You may count my answers, without my name or email, in totals we share with camps." If you tick it, your answers can be added to totals like "6 families want 4-week coed sessions." We share a total only when at least 5 families are in it, so it cannot point to one family. If you leave the box empty, your answers are not counted.

How long we keep it

We keep your request while we work on your shortlist and any intros, and after that until you ask us to delete it.

Deleting your request

Email camps@campgearinsiders.com from the address you used and ask us to delete your request. We remove it from our database. Copies of emails already sent may stay in our mailbox and in Resend's logs for a while.

Sharing

We do not sell your information.

Amazon and other retailers set their own cookies if you click a shop link. Those purchases may earn us a commission. See our affiliate disclosure.
